DOS Runtime Errors

Error #0
DOS runtime error.  It means one of the following:

  • the file does not exist
  • the file has 0 bytes
  • the directory in which the file exists is not accessible
  • the network drive containing the file is not mapped properly
  • the workstation does not have proper read and write rights to the directory containing the file

Error #4
OUT OF DATA: Program Exception Error.

Error #5
ILLEGAL FUNCTION CALL: Program Exception Error.

Error #7
OUT OF MEMORY: The program's memory is full. Run the ICVERIFY® software in non-POPUP mode.

Error #9
SUBSCRIPT OUT OF RANGE: Program Exception Error.

Error #11
DIVISION BY ZERO: Program Exception Error.

Error #14
OUT OF STRING SPACE: Program Exception Error.

Error #24
DEVICE TIMEOUT: The program did not receive information from an input/output device within a predetermined amount of time. Make sure that there is a printer attached to the printer port.

Error #25
DEVICE FAULT: A device has returned a hardware error. Make sure that: a) there is a printer attached to the printer port, b) the printer power is on, and c) the printer "online" indicator light is on.

Error #27
OUT OF PAPER: The printing device is out of paper.

Error #52
BAD FILENAME: A filename entered at the command line or in ICSETUP does not follow the operating system naming conventions.

PORT ERROR: Communication port is not valid on this machine.

Error #53
FILE NOT FOUND: A filename entered at the command line or in ICSETUP does not exist, OR the ICVERIFY data files are not in the directory indicated in ICSETUP.

Error #54
PORT ERROR: Hardware error communicating to port.

Error #55
FILE ALREADY OPEN: Program Exception Error.

Error #61
DISK IS FULL: The computer's hard disk is full. You may need to remove some files from the disk before proceeding. When you have created more space on the disk, the latest transaction or process will have to be re-entered.

Error #62
INPUT PAST END: Program Exception Error.

Error #64
BAD FILENAME: There may be an invalid character in a filename in ICSETUP or the Command Line.

Error #67
TOO MANY FILES: Make sure there is a file named CONFIG.SYS in your computer's root directory. The file must have a "FILES=" statement with the number of files equal to 30 or more. If this is not the case, create or correct the file and reboot the system. Under Novell® NetWare, you may also need to create or modify the SHELL.CFG file in your root directory: enter FILE HANDLES=30 or more to match the FILES entry in your CONFIG.SYS. DIRECTORY IS FULL: The system is trying to create a file in a directory where the valid number of files has been exceeded.

Error #68
DEVICE UNAVAILABLE: The device or port selected in ICSETUP for a modem or printer does not exist.

Error #69
COMMUNICATION-BUFFER OVERFLOW: During remote communications, the receive buffer overflowed.

Error #70
PERMISSION DENIED: An attempt was made to access a locked file.

Error #71
DISK NOT READY: The door to the floppy disk drive is open or there is no disk in the drive when one was expected. Make sure there is a formatted disk in the drive and that the door is securely shut, and retry.

Error #72
DISK-MEDIA ERROR:

HARD DRIVE - Your hard disk may be damaged. Discontinue operation of the ICVERIFY software and check the disk for damage.

FLOPPY DRIVE - Your floppy disk may be damaged or unformatted, or the disk drive may be damaged. Correct floppy disk and retry, or discontinue operation of the ICVERIFY software and check the disk drive for damage.

Error #75
ACCESS DENIED: Make sure the file specification entered at the Command Line or in ICSETUP is formatted correctly. This error can also occur when trying to replace an existing read-only file.

Error #76
PATH NOT FOUND: There is a "pathname" in ICSETUP or the Command Line that does not exist on your computer system. You need to correct the pathname (or create the directory) before proceeding.

INVALID NAME

Error #83
BUFFER TOO SMALL: Program Exception Error.

Error #104
OUT OF STRING POOL MEMORY: Program Exception Error.

Error #126
OUT OF STACK SPACE: Program Exception Error.
